We have been with the ‘Taking Christ to Italy’ Project since May of 1999 when Shively Christian Church , the PACE church behind the project chose us as the team leaders. We spent 7 months with the church in Louisville, Kentucky, getting to know the people and building a team until we left for the field in February of 2000. Our first year was spent in language study in Perugia at the University for Foreigners. In May of 2001 we moved to our target city of Ancona where we have been ever since, pouring our lives into the people and crying out to God to build up a new community here. We have three precious children: Jacob is nine and just started the 4th grade at an Italian public school. He loves reading (Geronimo Stilton), Nintendo, dancing and hunting lizards. Haven is six years old and is a very proud 1st grader. She loves dancing, dressing up and creating new and unique recipes. Harrison is two years old and FULL of life. He likes Thomas the Tank Engine, playing with his siblings and grazing. My beautiful wife Heather is a God-send, quite literally. She is my best friend, my balancer, my assistant, my encouragement and my love. She is very gifted in hospitality, cooking, decorating and making people see and feel the love of our God. She has a very unique ability to see great potential in both people and things. Her interests include photography, decorating, caring for people and of late, the 24/7 Prayer Movement. Me? I love where God has placed our family and learning how to lead a great team and a small, growing church. I get to be involved in: - Spending lots of time praying alone and with others
- Meeting people who live and work in Ancona and build friendships
- Finding new ways of building community
- Teaching, preaching and discipling
- Partnering with local churches and individuals in the U.S. and here in Italy to undergird the work here and to promote missions awareness there
In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, video games, hiking, camping and courting my wife. For more information on our family and ministry, follow us at our blog: http://marchegiansun.blogspot.com. |
